How to select Xhorse key cutting machine probes&cutters as a locksmith?
ProbeSelf-calibrated machines (Dolphin XP005L...) are equipped with only one 1.0mm probe, so just use this probe whatever cutters you choose;
Manual machines (Dolphin XP007...) are equipped with a double-sided probe (one side 1.5mm, the other side 2.5mm), so match the probe to the cutter, that is, 1.5mm to 1.5mm, 2.5mm to 2.5mm.
Cutter
There are 3 cutters: 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm.
Generally, for keys with large distance between bittings like VW HU66, we’d better choose an 2.5mm cutter;
For keys with denser bittings like TOY43, VW HU162T, we’d better choose an 1.5mm cutter. If we use a 2.0mm or a 2.5mm cutter, it may cause incorrect cuttings on neighbor bittings.
We often select a 2.0mm cutter, because it also supports part of key types that 2.5mm and 1.5mm cutters support.
Personal choice
1. Prepare more 2.0mm cutters and less 2.5mm cutters. We seldom use an 1.5mm cutter but it is too thin and hard to stand wear and tear, we may prepare more 1.5mm cutters as well.
2. If we find the machine produces too loud noises and rough keys, it means replacing cutters.
